The short version
- You can use UN & NGO Jobs without creating an account.
- Your saved jobs, application tracker, notes, alerts, filters, profile, interview practice answers and motivation statement drafts are stored on your device.
- The app backs this up to your own Google account on Android or your own iCloud on iPhone and iPad. We cannot see it.
- Search text and public job descriptions are processed by AI services (Anthropic’s Claude and Microsoft’s Azure OpenAI) to power our smart features.
- Interview practice answers, and the background you write for a motivation statement, are sent to Claude only when you ask for feedback or a draft. We don’t keep them on our servers.
- We show ads through Google AdMob and use Google Firebase for analytics, crash reports and notifications.
- We do not sell your personal information.
1. Who we are
UN & NGO Jobs (“the app”) is published by Petand Technologies Ltd (“we”, “us”). We are responsible for the personal information described in this policy. You can reach us at unjobsapp@gmail.com.
This policy covers the app on Android and iOS and the website at unjobsapp.org.
2. Information we collect and why
Information stored on your device
The following stays on your phone or tablet. It is not sent to our servers, except as described in the sections below:
- Jobs you save, and their status in the application tracker (Applied, Interview, Offer or Rejected)
- The date you applied and any notes you add
- Your alerts, saved filters and interests
- Your profile for “Check my fit”: education, years of experience, languages, nationalities and whether you are a UN staff member. The fit check runs on your device.
- Your interview practice answers and the AI feedback on them
- The background you write for motivation statements, the length you choose, and your drafts
- App settings, such as notification preferences
Cloud backup in your own Google account or iCloud
Cloud backup is optional, and we do not receive a copy of your backup on either platform.
- Android: the app uses Android’s own backup. When backup is turned on in your device settings, Android copies the information above to your Google account with your other app data, and restores it when you install the app on a new phone. The app does not ask you to sign in and has no access to your Google Drive files. The backup is stored by Google under the Google Privacy Policy.
- iPhone and iPad: the backup is saved to your private iCloud storage under the Apple Account signed in on your device. The app can access only its own iCloud data. The backup is stored by Apple under the Apple Privacy Policy.
Smart features powered by AI
Some features use Claude, an AI service provided by Anthropic PBC, and Azure OpenAI, an AI service provided by Microsoft:
- Plain-words search: the text you type is sent to Claude to fill in the search fields.
- Search: the words you search for are sent to Azure OpenAI to find jobs with a similar meaning, not only the same words. On devices set to French, the job titles you search for are also sent to Claude to add their English equivalents.
- At a glance and “Check my fit”: the public text of a job posting is sent to Claude to produce the summary and list the requirements. Your profile is not sent: the comparison with it happens on your device.
- For you: the list of jobs you have saved is sent to our servers, which compare those jobs with other postings. The comparison uses data that Azure OpenAI creates from the public text of job postings.
- Translation: on devices set to French, the public text of job postings may be translated by Azure OpenAI.
- Interview practice: the public text of the job is sent to Claude to suggest likely interview questions. When you ask for feedback, the answer you wrote and the question are sent to Claude.
- Motivation statement: when you ask for a draft, and only after you agree to it in the app, Claude receives your background as you wrote it, the education, years of experience and languages from your profile, the length you chose and the job posting. Your nationalities are not sent.
We don’t store your interview answers, the background you write or the drafts on our servers. They stay on your device, and are only sent each time you ask for feedback or a draft. To apply the monthly (or, with a weekly pass, weekly) limits on these features, we keep a count of how many times each installation used them in that period, without the text.
Anthropic and Microsoft process this information on our behalf as service providers, and under their commercial terms they do not use it to train their models. They may keep it for a limited time under those terms, for example to detect abuse. Please don’t include information you don’t want to share, such as ID numbers, contact details or health information, in search text, interview answers or your background. AI-generated summaries, matches, feedback and drafts can be wrong. Always check the original job posting, and check the facts in any draft before you use it.
Usage, device and log information
When the app connects to our servers to load jobs, our servers automatically record technical information. This includes your IP address, approximate location derived from it, device model, operating system and version, language, app version, search terms and filters, and the date and time of requests. We use it to deliver jobs, keep the service secure, prevent abuse and understand how the app is used. Each installation of the app gets a random identifier and key from our servers. They are not linked to your name or email and are used to sign requests, apply rate limits and monthly feature limits, and recognize your subscription.
App integrity checks
To protect our servers from abuse, the app uses Firebase App Check. It asks Google Play Integrity (on Android) or Apple App Attest and DeviceCheck (on iPhone and iPad) to confirm that requests come from a genuine copy of the app on a genuine device. These services receive information about your device and the app to do this, under Google’s and Apple’s privacy policies. We receive only the result of the check.
Analytics and crash reports
We use Google Firebase Analytics to understand which features are used, and Firebase Crashlytics to find and fix crashes. These services collect an app-instance identifier, device and operating system details, app interactions, and crash diagnostics.
Notifications
To send daily or weekly job alerts, we use Firebase Cloud Messaging. It issues a notification token for your device, and we store that token with the alert criteria needed to send you matching jobs. You can turn notifications off at any time in the app or in your device settings.
Advertising
The free version shows ads through Google AdMob. AdMob may collect your device’s advertising ID, IP address, device information and ad interactions to show, measure and limit ads. Where the law requires it, for example in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, we ask for your consent before showing personalized ads. You can reset or delete your advertising ID, or opt out of personalized ads, in your device settings. See how Google uses information from apps that use its services.
Purchases
If you buy a subscription, which removes ads and gives a larger allowance of AI features (monthly, or weekly with a weekly pass), Google Play or the Apple App Store handles the payment. We receive a confirmation of the purchase and keep it with your installation’s identifier so we know your subscription is active. We never see your card or payment details.
Calendar
When you add a job deadline to your calendar, the app creates the event through your device’s calendar. We do not read or upload your existing calendar events.
Contacting us
If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you choose to share. We use it only to reply and to improve the app.
3. Who we share information with

5. International transfers and security
Our service providers may process information in countries other than yours, including the United States, where data protection laws may differ. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards, such as standard contractual clauses offered by our providers. Information is encrypted in transit, and we limit access to people and systems that need it. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, but we work to protect your information.
6. Your choices and rights
- Delete data on your device: remove saved jobs and alerts in the app, or clear the app’s data or uninstall it.
- Stop or delete your backup on Android: turn off backup in your device settings (usually Settings › Google › Backup). Your device backups, including this app’s data, are listed in your Google account (Google One or Google Drive › Backups), where you can delete them.

- Your legal rights: depending on where you live, including under the EU and UK GDPR and similar data protection laws, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to the processing of your personal information, to data portability, and to withdraw consent. Email unjobsapp@gmail.com and we will respond within 30 days. You may also complain to the data protection authority where you live.
7. Children
The app is for job seekers and is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the app changes. We will change the “Last updated” date above and, for significant changes, tell you in the app or on this website before they take effect.
